Silver Sneakers Programs

About

The SilverSneakers by Tivity Health Fitness program is an insurance benefit included in more than 65 Medicare health plans. Through SilverSneakers®, health plans and group retirement plans provide a gym membership to their insured, usually at no additional cost.

The following Health Insurance plans offered in Massachusetts offer coverage plans which include the SilverSneakers® Fitness program benefit:

If your health insurance plan does not offer the SilverSneakers Fitness benefit, many other insurers reimburse for fitness center membership fees. All members are welcome to attend our fitness program. Our Senior Fitness membership rate (for active older adults aged 65 and up) is $20 per month for unlimited classes or cardio/weight room use or $30 per month for all amenities.

Programs

SilverSneakers Classic

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and skills for daily activities. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for standing or seated support.

SilverSneakers Circuit

Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball is alternated with low-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is used for standing support, stretching, and relaxation exercises.

SilverSneakers Yoga

YogaStretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

Tai Chi with Gary

This is not a SilverSneakers branded class. Sifu Gary has taught Tai Chi at several area Senior Centers and has a well-developed program for those aged 65 and up. The class will begin with an extensive warm-up progressing to Tai Chi movements (martial arts in slow motion is the best way to describe Tai Chi), finishing with a relaxing cool-down and stretch period.

Friday - Tai Chi with Gary
