Pavement crack sealing is a relatively low-cost routine maintenance repair to fill cracks, prevent water infiltration and further cracking resulting in base failure, and keep Oxford's good roads in good shape. Cracksealing pavement is a critical early intervention to protect the Town's investment on newly constructed streets. The DPW employs crack sealing on all classifications of streets (i.e. arterial, local, etc.) with a PCI in the range of 86 to 92. We expect to extend a pavement's life around 3 to 5 years with crack sealing before employing other repairs such as surface treatments.
